What a weekend, we've had a hospital attendance, legs that look like corned beef, bad backs and even badder drumming (in the crap sense of the word!). Oh and last but not a least a little controversy surrounding my blog from over a month ago, which, at the time, voiced my displeasure at the Durham Ox gig being cancelled.
I'll start with that one first.....well, it was good to get a few comments about this (if not a month too late) but anyway, I'll say my peace and I think we should draw a line under it after that. When we were approached to play the foresters, we did in fact think about the "gig in the same village in the space of 3 days issue" but were assured that on a bank holiday weekend such as this there'd be loads of people out. We had more than enough songs to go round...and would only duplicate a handful over the two gigs as we'd done two set lists especially. I'd like to think we give good variety when we play, if we don't please tell us....we won't know if you don't!! So, thanks to whoever posted the comments, please do so again, but don't leave it so long next time!! I always sign my blog entry's perhaps you could sign your comments too!!
Now to the important stuff, Lads as Ill!! Well I was, before the North Briton gig on Friday night i was getting ready and noticed a rash and swelling which covered both of my lower legs (front and back). They were swollen as well!! So not wanting to risk the wrath of dad, I decided to soldier on and do the gig...crackin nite, love playing there!!
Sat am....swelling had gone down, but the rash was still there...so off to casualty as we'd called NHS direct and carried out the Glass test...the rash was not dissapearing..hmmm not good. So a few blood tests later, I get a call from A&E advising that the results were ok apart from a test on a particular liver function...how the f**k, I've not had more than 3 pints in any one night for the last 4 bloody months!! The doctor advised that this shouldn't really be a problem, but to come back in if the symptoms got worse or others developed. Bloody worried by this point.
Sat pm, gig at the wheatsheaf in the Chilton...another gig I love doing!! Not too many in first off, but it got busier later on...a few people dancin towards the end and plenty shouting for more...one or two a bit too insistent, much to dad's annoyance!!
Onto Monday...I don't know what's gannin on with me, but now me hands were swelling up like I was auditioning for a part in a remake of the Foo's everlong video. We were playing at the Cons Club in coundon on the afternoon, another good gig we've not been there for a year or two, but thoroughly enjoyed it. My favourite Coundon based Foo Fighters fan was in and after much "Play the foo fighters" (say it right or it's just not the same) we duly obliged at the start of the second half.
I think Gibbo was a bit under the weather and not into it, not sure if he's a day person....seems to perk up when the sun goes down. However, he was still alert enough to visually chastise Paul several times during the gig.....several missed beats, forgotten timings and mis-hits later I think Paul had the weight of musical pressure firmly on his shoulders with the 3 of us staring at him at each mistake. Dunno what was up, but I'm sure it's a temporary thing!! I just carried on and even though I thought me hand was gonna sieze up I managed to make it through!!
Feeling much better now, rash has gone, hands are down to normal size. All together healthier I reckon.
We're playing the bat and ball in segga on Sat night, looking fwd to this...need to have a bit crack with Claff, we're playing his wedding do in August. Hope to see you there if you've going.
Well I'm off to watch the match, the lads are practising tonight, I only got back from work just after 7, so not much point in getting me gear together and getting to practise, wonder what lays in wait for me regarding new chooons!!
Take care everyone.
