Hi all,
‘bout time I put an entry on this page incase people think I’ve left the band, or because of the fact that Mal and Gibbo ”are the only ones that put owt on it”,
we have had a very busy couple of weeks with new venues and mid week gigs which have all gone down very well and generated more future bookings. Just played The Cleveland Hotel in Redcar on Friday which was great as always, just before we started Paul and myself were talking to a lady who had come out for a drink or 8 and to see some live music, conversation was going ok ……till she just started singing in our faces with more enthusiasm than ive ever seen on that X pop factor idol thing!....yes even grabbing fresh air with the hands!?,anyway about 2 lines into the verse of the second rendition of My guy Paul just turned on his Cuban heel and just…..ran away(cheers Paul) and left me on my own to be sang to, think I told her I had to go and back comb me hair for the gig just to get away (sorry love I was scared).
Saturday night we were on at The Weardale in Spennymoor….straight after an audition for new star wars characters (there were some interesting looking guys n’ gals in there), again we always get great compliments and feedback from the landlord/manager, the place was pretty much packed out all night but to be honest they all could have been in to see this guy who was playing the pool cue guitar, the table piano, the beer mat mouth organ…..and the pool cue also doubled up as a mic stand for when he did his vocal part…..laugh, I thought we were gonna be blown of the stage at one point as the whole place was watching him, but at least he was enjoying himself! Near the end of the second set we also gave a new song a run out for the first time with Mal on vocals ( high and dry by Radiohead ) yer did good kid.
I think Gibbo also had his 2 front eaters knocked out when an over exited dancer got carried away with pretty vacant and nearly gave Neil an early supper in the form of a sennheiser microphone.
Todays entry ends here (dinners ready and you got to get your priorities right)
Ta ta for now,
W.
