Little more I can add to Waynes accurate account the evening.
I will start by saying thankyou to Charlotte and Nigel for choosing us to play for them.....twas our pleasure. I hope the INXS one for the first dance was ok. (Gibbeaux giving it some Hutchence).
Its all true about the staff at Headlam being somewhat discourteous and obtrusive, especially where we were concerned....."We have nothing but contempt for...BANDS..here at Headlam".
As Wayne said...we had to spend some time hanging around due to things running behind...not to worry though, was a great laugh in the cribbage parlour (braaaandy, are you a member?) with Belamy and his mistress, bet he stovved her knot in after the medievel banquet. Pauls pump nearly gave me a stroke with laughter.....bet its still echoing round the manor.
Stage area was great...loadsa room! Top sound too....would have been barely audible if Madame Nettle Knickers had her way, screaming with frenzied panic as Pauls drumsticks gently rattled out of the bag.."TOOOOOOOO LOOOUUUDD"....I ask you?
Anyway, we disregarded all insructions concerning magnitude levels and were happy to settle .5 of a notch behind DJ Manorak, the resident blart magnet.
Not sure if they knew what hit them at first....but I sought assurance in the knowledge that we'd been seen three times by Charlotte and Nigel and we were there for them FULL STOP. With this in mind we gave it 100% no holds barred, full on....Koncept style. No complaints from the guests or anyone...only positive feedback, so nice one. I felt we played and performed really well and I have to say that I genuinely enjoyed the evening.
Once again I wish Charlotte and Nigel all the best for their future together and look forward to seeing them again soon. Thanks again.
