Well, none of the others seem to want to put a blog entry in about how good the gig's were last weekend. We played a privately organised do at Leelholme, one fee on the door and then all you can drink for nowt....an we were all driving, bugger!!!...apart from Paul, who probably managed to get his 17 quid's worth and might have had it beaten out of him by one of his mates cos we didn't play learn to fly...whoops!! Anyhow, the gig was good, nice sized hall..sound wise I thought we had a good mix on and off stage...sweating like the preverbial by the end...no change there then. Finale was Paul up on vocals for white riot....and even playing one chord during the lead part....had nightmares about him snapping more than one string by digging the plec in too deep on the downward stroke (cunjure that one up in yer heed!!).
Onto Saturday night at Segga!! The Bat and Ball as it's fondly referred to by our young'n. Crackin night yet again, great feedback....several Encores...and sweat by the ...

I can certainly say that I really enjoyed this weekends gigs...the Blacksmiths was a great gig despite Paul turning up late having gone through the Tyne Tunnel to get to Gosforth!! (I still think he's joking cos not even he's that stupid!! is he?). It was ages since we'd played there, in fact the last time I ended up in Hospital a day or two later.....aya's lads me Knee's hurtin!! Thankfully no such happenings this time. The gig was really good, we opened up with a new tune and it sounded great. So anyway onto this wax on wax off thing...well you'll have to ask Edgy for more info...I mean I've had my back waxed for charity and when I showed the lads they wen't into a catatonic state of shock....but Edgy has gone that one step further...needless to say...when he had 'them' done, it would've been a good impression of Buster Gonad...cos they'd have swollen up like balloons....but to drop his kegs in the middle of the pub just before chucking out time... I felt sick!!
Onto the Spennymoo ...

Well gutted our gig at the Masons has been pulled...I was looking forward to that one. Haven't been told why so it'll be interesting to find out why it was cancelled!!!
On the plus side, I've got me tickets to go and see the Foo's in Manchester in November....can't wait!!
So, we'll just have to introduce that new track next week when we play at the Blacksmiths in Gosforth, always enjoy playing there.
Got a busy few months coming up for gigs, nuptual's (did I spell that right?) and of course prior to that the STAG do....should be a larrf, hopefully they don't tie me up somewhere naked, not sure the public need to be seeing my impersonation of chewbacca!!

Embracing the growl...oh and snapping another bloomin string |

It's funny you know, everyone tells me I play the guitar a bit too hard...what with snapping a string every other gig!! It's always the same guage string and I thought the disease was confined to my telecaster....it now seems to have infected the Les Paul too.....half way through Show me the way and it snapped. Oh well, can't complain, just seems to be the way of things at the mo!!
Anyway, played two good gigs this weekend, the Weardale in Spennymoor and the 3 tuns in Coundon.
The Weardale - thoroughly enjoyed this one apart from my sound, thought i'd give the marshall a run out...much to my dissmay and Waynes delight, the distortion sounded like a chainsaw with blunt teeth...loadsa work needed to achieve a better sound if it's to be used live again (note - Neil hates it when we introduce new gear just before a gig.. lol, quite right too on the evidence of Saturday night!!)
My ability to sound like scooby doo when we play 500 miles is bec ...

Flippin hell, what a busy few days. Finally got back home at 10pm on Friday having been bumped off the flight from Tenerife and having to fly via Bristol of all places. Not a nice airport inthe slightest!!!
The Shoe -
Well having forgotten that Wayne had ordered the lights I don't think my comment of "what the f**k you got them for" went down very well..oops!! Apart from the dry ice completely knacking up my voice I was quite impressed with the lights!! Even had strobe lights while doing paranoid (I nearly fell ower after me headbanging bit!!). Setting up was more hectic and sweatier than usual, I think it must have affected Gibbos internal workings as his ability to produce a 5-a-day smelling guff was enhanced.
Thanks to Dave for all his good comments and for coming to do the recording...hope me voice wasn't too bad!!
Vane Arms -

My turn!! |

Having seen that the other three had done a blog (which is un heard of normally) I thought I'd best chip in with a little write up.
Funniest moment during setup was Wayne's face when mr DJ asked him to turn his guitar down a bit....PLI mate PLI!! divent throttle him until we're off the grounds!!! I could see the cartoon steam coming out of his ears! ha ha
I hear there's a few sketch shows wanting to re-create the Drawing room fart scene, unfortunately don't think Paul's hoop could cope with another precision timed blow out!! ha ha.....
Overall, the night went well. Good reaction to Blink and the rest as they say.....
Big thanks to Nigel and Charlotte and all the best for the future. Oh and thanks to Charlotte's dad...didn't see him on the night, hope he had a good day...
Hirris was evident on Friday, n it's been a while!! Plenty room on stage to move around, so I moved more than I do normall ...

Harley's Davison....not to be!! |

Well, bit of a surprise today....the Harley's gig is off....as if by chance I was on riffs and it had a band called "The Divide" listed to play on Sunday....so, I rang Gibbo, mid wagon reversing, he said he hadn't called the bar to confirm times. So I rang the Harleys, and they confirmed it was "The Divide" who are playing on Sunday and not us. Ho hum, you live and learn.
Back to more pressing matters, Friday night...emailed the admin address at Headlam Hall yesterday to find out what time we could arrive to setup...can't be soundchecking during the speeches like!! No reply as yet. I shall try another avenue of enquiry.
The moggie's got her killing streak back....she was doing the "gut wrenching noise" the other morning....which usually means, look at me I've caught summat, and she had...a mouse, saw her about 10 minutes later, she padded round the corner licking her lips....there'll be nothing left of the mouse then!!

The sight of them three huddled in a van going at 2mph is a one to behold....wonder if Paul removed Waynes snapped fingernails from the dash before he handed the keys back!! I can only imagine what Zach, Lisa and Shadrach got upto on the way to the gig.
Anyhows, just to re-iterate what Neil's put in his blog, the gig at the Black Lion in Richmond was class!! It had everything, even a low ceiling, small playing area and a partially deaf guitarist by the end cos the drummer wouldn't turn the volume down on his kit!! ha ha
I think the next band purchase will be a new pair of under kegs for Paul (to replace the ones he obviously dabbed after Neil gave him the fright of his life ;-).
For once I reckon Everlong was well received. I was sweating buckets after that one.
I ran out of business cards at the end of the Gig...which was 23:50 might I add...bloomin droppin by the end of it I was....verdict is great crowd, great pu ...

Cracking gig at the Travs - Friday 22nd |

Really enjoyed the gig on Friday night. Plenty of vocal support from the audience, one bloke in particular!! My knee held up which is a bonus so bring on the next one!!
Think Gibbo was right about losing weight like!! It was boiling in the room at the travs, and gibbo managed to position himself right in front of the FAN (air circulation device, not a person) that was attempting to cool us all down. We even played Creep which hasn't been in the list for yonks. I think Everlong will always remain a favourite of the bands, but you can tell not many people know it!! may have to be selective when we play that one....500 miles went down a storm, crikey the audience were up for that one!!
I'm in Germnay this week (frankfurt), another training course. Language barrier is a slight problem, but I'll manage. Hope none of my flights are delayed this time on the way home, otherwise it'll be an overnighter in schippol airport.....yipee :-(

Hi,
Well I'm back from me travels (soon to go again) and me Knee is knee worse for wear!!! Still not much going on the practice front. Pretty much down to everyones work commitments...fancy work getting in the way!!! tsch!!!
Anyway, I'm looking forward to Friday night!! I seem to remember the last one here being a good'un....hope the turn out is just as good again. Think i might brave playing without a stool (no paul I don't wan't one of yours)!!
Paul's started a new Job this week... I hear he's in Rugby for a few days....wonder if he's worked out it's an absolute s**t hole...well it was when I was there a few years ago. Only good thing is the sign post telling you how to get out!
Wayne's got his Mega Bogie!! Damn, I'm gonna have to make a purchase now....wonder if a new Jim Dunlop Plec could outshine the Mesa??? Hmm perhaps not!!
Wonder if I'll snap a string this week? I thought I was doin ...
