gigs galore
Pauls Blog By Paul on 6/23/2008 7:16 PM
hello friends and fellow members of the pastry appreciation society, its been a while since my last entry pardon the expression if you will! anyway ive got my internet up and running again so blogs will be appearing regularly from now on (not!!) right so whats been happening in my band life latley? well ive been to a couple of top gigs over the last couple of weeks the first one was a trip to wembley stadium (awsome stadium by the way) to see the foo fighters with mal,i was a bit dissapointed overall as we had crappy seats right at the back plus it cost £15 for two 'effin hot dogs! it was either that or the pie & pint deal which was £8! what a rip off.anyway mal and i decided to leave the gig before the encore so we could beat the crowds to the tube station and get back into central london for a couple of beers before closing,so you can imagine our dismay the next morning when one of mal's ex work mates who was at the gig text him to see what we thought when led zep joined the foos on stage for t ...

The right to reply, corned beef hash and the Hulks knuckles!!
mals blog By mal on 27 May 2008
What a weekend, we've had a hospital attendance, legs that look like corned beef, bad backs and even badder drumming (in the crap sense of the word!). Oh and last but not a least a little controversy surrounding my blog from over a month ago, which, at the time, voiced my displeasure at the Durham Ox gig being cancelled.

I'll start with that one first.....well, it was good to get a few comments about this (if not a month too late) but anyway, I'll say my peace and I think we should draw a line under it after that. When we were approached to play the foresters, we did in fact think about the "gig in the same village in the space of 3 days issue" but were assured that on a bank holiday weekend such as this there'd be loads of people out. We had more than enough songs to go round...and would only duplicate a handful over the two gigs as we'd done two set lists especially. I'd like to think we give good variety when we play, if we don't please tell us....we won't know if you don't ...

Where am I? I can't see
Gibbo's Blog By gibbo on 5/13/2008 9:38 PM

Now that the recovery process is almost complete, I feel I can now try to surmise our recent night out round Crook.

I have NEVER been so wrecked in my entire life, anyone who’s been out on the lash with me before can verify this. I cannot remember a single thing after nine o’clock, so most of the stuff I’m writing is what I’ve been told by others present that night. (actually my ol’ mate Daz from ‘Matrix’ may recall other times, that I don’t recollect)

The initial idea was to go out and watch a band called ‘Young Guns’ , two of which are really cool blokes, really good at what they do, the other two I don’t know at all, and that is exactly what we did. I picked my two mates, Dan and Craig up and headed for Edgey’s house to park the car up for the night, as it was at his house I had arranged to sleep. We got to Edgey’s and Dan and I immediately began taking ad ...

X factor and Joe Cockers one man band!
Waynes Blog By Wayne Nixon on Sunday, May 04, 2008

Hi all,

‘bout time I put an entry on this page incase people think I’ve left the band, or because of the fact that Mal and Gibbo ”are the only ones that put owt on it”,

we have had a very busy couple of weeks with new venues and mid week gigs which have all gone down very well and generated more future bookings. Just played The Cleveland Hotel in Redcar on Friday which was great as always, just before we started Paul and myself were talking to a lady who had come out for a drink or 8 and to see some live music, conversation was going ok ……till she just started singing in our faces with more enthusiasm than ive ever seen on that X pop factor idol thing!....yes even grabbing fresh air with

Busy Weekend
mals blog By mal on 01 May 2008
Hi,

Well last weekend was a busy one. Played a gig on Thursday at The Crown in Crook, bit of late booking and I gather one of the first gigs at the venue....I think trade was a bit slow that evening, but all in all we had a good night and those that came to see us enjoyed it. I think wind is becoming a problem in our band, its confined to gig nights only, so I guess them 3 have bad guts leading upto gigs as they obviously don't fart any other day of the week! Only when I'm leaning over to plug summat in on a gig night.

Friday night we played another new venue in the form of the Ropery in Sunderland....not what I expected!! Felt like I was setting up in someones front room, what with the fireplace n all. Again, not that many in, but we enjoyed it. We've been tinkering with the sound lately to try and get a better balance...and it did sound pretty good that evening!!

Saturday night, another first!! Innisfree social club at Longbenton. ...

Cancelled Gig and Paul's Foul Stench
mals blog By mal on 31 March 2008
Hi,

Played a couple of canny gig's recently, Good Friday being the first one, at the Foresters no less!! Been ages since we played there....turnout was a little thin at first and I think we were worried there'd be no one in...it was snowing horizontaly like!! But Spuggy's (Paul) mates came to the rescue and we had a great night.

Onto Easter Sunday.....eh? What do you mean it was cancelled? Cancelled because we were going to have played the same village in 3 days and there's not enough punters to go round? Cancelled because someone wants it all his own way?.....I didn't realise we were pawns in the battle for world domination of Coundon Pub trade.......piffle.....F****n grow up sunshine or you'll end up with nee one playing for yer!! It was Easter Sunday for Ferk's sake!!! Of course there's gonna be people out!!

Ahh that's better!!

So, onto the most recent gig, Friday just gone. At the Crown in Spennymoor. A late ...

lost hats and broken amps and dented microphones
mals blog By mal on 11 March 2008
Hi All,

It's been a few weeks since I blogged. Hmmm, let me see, what's happened since then.

Well, we played the Cleveland Hotel and had a cracking night, we did finish as a 3 piece cos Waynes amp went....errm...quiet! Apparently he blew the speakers...how the...did he do that. But as a whole gig it was great!

The grand? Well what can I say, the place was packed from start to finish....I thought we played really well...people were dancin, shouting, singing along...great stuff...even the trooper went down well (apart from my solo, it was log)!! Simon had to get more lager in, it's a real ale pub, but we'd brought a lot of lager drinkers apparently....he's even given us another date (hope Paul's confirmed it with him!!)

On to last weekend, we played a wedding do at Ferryhill leisure centre. I much prefer playing pubs, but wedding do's can be fun too....especially when we found out Paul's favourite DJ was doing the ...

Dodgems, cold remedies and Rock n Roll
Gibbo's Blog By gibbo on 2/24/2008 4:05 PM

Friday tea time and I’m driving home from work, looking forward to the gigs we have lined up, Cleveland Hotel in Redcar that night and The Grand Hotel in Bishop Auckland on the Saturday. I was loaded with cold but managed to convince myself I’d ‘get by’ vocally. Holy shit!!!! ‘CRASH’ The lady driving in front of me slams on her brakes to stop and talk to her friend she’s just seen walking down the street, no signal or pre warning of any kind and predictably, I screech into the back of her. Now anyone who’s had experience with this type of prang will know that it makes no difference whether she was on a mobile phone, eating a pizza or giving herself a pedicure at the wheel, it’s still going to be my fault. Any way, my car was cracked and bent a bit, luckily, her car only suffered a slight scuff, (the repair company will still pull my eyes out I have no doubt), fortunately, the lady was completely unhurt and pleasant to deal with so matters got settled eas ...

car crashes & technical issues!
Pauls Blog By Paul on 2/23/2008 11:41 AM
hello everyone, thought it was about time i got my lazy portly arse into gear and wrote something on this blog page!!.might as well get straight onto all things koncept we've got a busy weekend this weekend gigs wise, tonight (saturday) we are playing the grand hotel in bishop auckland, its our first time on there and we cant wait to play it as it is one of the top venues in the north east.last night it was a hefty ride out to redcar to play the cleveland hotel, its always worth the ride out to play this venue, they make a real effort to advertise and promote your gig there and the atmosphere is alwys top notch, anyway i think the forces of evil were doing there best to ruin last nights gig! first of all i get a phone call friday tea time to say gibbo has shunted some girl up the back end,and i dont mean that he had got an instant sun tan on his pink pylon!! i mean a car crash, apparantly some female driver decided to hammer on the brakes cos she had seen her mate in the street and decided she wanted to talk to her ...

Andre the Giant in high heeled pixie boots...
Gibbo's Blog By gibbo on 2/11/2008 1:54 PM

‘Ey up lads n lasses, guess who’s got a day off…..needed after this weekends antics I assure you, booze booze and ………yes…more booze…phew! Hard work with me not being a big, or regular drinker. Had no gigs this weekend so I made a decision to have a weekend on the lash, round Spenny….where else?

Last gig we did have was excellent, our first time playing in Leadgate Cricket Club. Set up was a bit random, but worked out ok…oddly, everyone said the sound was very nice and clear…hopefully the people sat really really close to the speakers can live ok with their new case of tinnitus ….just kidding, we’re never THAT loud…cough! The audience were fantastic, made our first time there really memorable, so we’re keen to return. I’m very grateful also to the gents who booked us and organizers for their very flattering comments, especially the high marks they gave me on my figure skating outside in the snow and ice whilst carrying ‘cilla crackingl ...
