Friday tea time and I’m driving home from work, looking forward to the gigs we have lined up, Cleveland Hotel in Redcar that night and The Grand Hotel in Bishop Auckland on the Saturday. I was loaded with cold but managed to convince myself I’d ‘get by’ vocally. Holy shit!!!! ‘CRASH’ The lady driving in front of me slams on her brakes to stop and talk to her friend she’s just seen walking down the street, no signal or pre warning of any kind and predictably, I screech into the back of her. Now anyone who’s had experience with this type of prang will know that it makes no difference whether she was on a mobile phone, eating a pizza or giving herself a pedicure at the wheel, it’s still going to be my fault. Any way, my car was cracked and bent a bit, luckily, her car only suffered a slight scuff, (the repair company will still pull my eyes out I have no doubt), fortunately, the lady was completely unhurt and pleasant to deal with so matters got settled eas ...

hello everyone, thought it was about time i got my lazy portly arse into gear and wrote something on this blog page!!.might as well get straight onto all things koncept we've got a busy weekend this weekend gigs wise, tonight (saturday) we are playing the grand hotel in bishop auckland, its our first time on there and we cant wait to play it as it is one of the top venues in the north east.last night it was a hefty ride out to redcar to play the cleveland hotel, its always worth the ride out to play this venue, they make a real effort to advertise and promote your gig there and the atmosphere is alwys top notch, anyway i think the forces of evil were doing there best to ruin last nights gig! first of all i get a phone call friday tea time to say gibbo has shunted some girl up the back end,and i dont mean that he had got an instant sun tan on his pink pylon!! i mean a car crash, apparantly some female driver decided to hammer on the brakes cos she had seen her mate in the street and decided she wanted to talk to her ...

‘Ey up lads n lasses, guess who’s got a day off…..needed after this weekends antics I assure you, booze booze and ………yes…more booze…phew! Hard work with me not being a big, or regular drinker. Had no gigs this weekend so I made a decision to have a weekend on the lash, round Spenny….where else?
Last gig we did have was excellent, our first time playing in Leadgate Cricket Club. Set up was a bit random, but worked out ok…oddly, everyone said the sound was very nice and clear…hopefully the people sat really really close to the speakers can live ok with their new case of tinnitus ….just kidding, we’re never THAT loud…cough! The audience were fantastic, made our first time there really memorable, so we’re keen to return. I’m very grateful also to the gents who booked us and organizers for their very flattering comments, especially the high marks they gave me on my figure skating outside in the snow and ice whilst carrying ‘cilla crackingl ...

Hi All,
It's been a while. Played a great gig on Sat night at Leadgate Cricket Club. First time there and we appeared to go down really well. Think there may have been a few deaf young'un's by the end of the first half due to where we had to set up the subs and tops!! Also, once gibbo had got use to me not being beside him I think he settled in quite nicely. Didn't get off stage til nearly midnight....absolutely knackered!! Still it was a massive bonus having edgy there to entertain us. The buffoon managed to cock up stand up bingo, in fact he was the first of 3 people to hand in false claims....disgraceful. In the re-run, he was knocked out early on....much to our relief.
Next gig is the Cleveland hotel in Redcar on the 22nd, always enjoy playing there, hopefully there'll be a good crowd. In fact I've been trying to convince some of my mates from nearby to pop down and have a listen, hopefully they'll pop along.
On the 23rd we play ...

Last nights gig was marvellous, we performed really well, (except the Killers track naturally), The audience were (as I predicted) fantastic, thanks to all who turned out to see us, especially the group who trailed over from Chilton. Thanks to John for coming (I feel musically naked without you out front checking the levels ha ha). Also not forgetting my main man ‘Edgey’ who makes a point of getting to nearly all of our gigs, thankfully refraining from exposing his tickle tackle, and other parts of his anatomy lately. ……Oh yes, he managed to pull too……wonder how that turned out? I actually have some concerns with Edgey’s life at the moment….as he always seem to place far to much emphasis on the state of my hair at every gig…(has anyone noticed…lads?), admittedly, by the end of the night it was like an albatross nest. My hair was nice and tidy till I got out of the car when I reached the venue and it was savaged by the mini hurricane that was blasting dow ...

Hi All,
Not one, not two, but three howlers from Paul on Wednesday.
Firstly he managed to forget to bring some of the power extentions to practice, luckily we had been evicted to a smaller practice venue and didn't need them. Eviction info to follow!
Secondly, he forgot his Cymbals for practice (see gibbo, I can spell!!), thanks to cliff for bailing himout.
Thirdly, and perhaps the most nixon angering of them all, he left one of the tops needing plastic surgery...nugget...not even an overly paid Beverly Hills plakker surgeon's gonna repair this one!!
So anyway onto this temporary eviction, it's been buggin me since I turned up on Wedneday. I'd done my best to get there in time only to find out that the rock and roll dancing papa smurf shagging hill billies had stolen our room "we've been using this hall for the last 4 weeks" he proclaimed...yeah? we've been using it for the last 14 mo ...

Well, another blog attempt, since the previous entries that failed to upload, the last one being an absolute mammoth saga, covering numerous gigs and Malcolm’s wedding, which was a great day I might add. So needless to say I’ve been slightly miffed and reluctant to waste time typing anything else, wondering if it will be an exercise in futility.
Anyway, enough whining…..ha ha
We’re back in Coundon this Friday, “Rockin’ The Ox”, hope it goes well because we haven’t really played or rehearsed much lately. A good turn out would be a nice way to open this years gigs, especially since our usual audience in Coundon are an awesome crowd, we’ve had some great gigs there in the past, (in Coundon that is, it’s actually our first time in The Durham Ox). Really looking forward to it, partly because we’ve shuffled our set around a bit, throwing some o ...

Hi All,
Thought I'd update you on a cracking weekend (well, apart from the hangover on Sunday morning!!). Firstly, got me tele back with a nice little hot rails pickup in the bridge position...it sounds the dogs now!! Well impressed. Secondly, I was supposed to be working Saturday night but it got cancelled. Which leads me onto thirdly. Me 'n' Nixon went out to see a band...not just any band...but..Maiden England. Been wanting to see these lads for ages....got the chance in Crook, right on nixon's doorstep.
Being a pretty big maiden fan, I couldn't wait for this one to start....and I wasn't dissapointed from the first song to the last...absolutely fantastic. I'm sure the singer must be Bruce Dickinson's love child...great voice. Guitars, Drums, bass....all class!!
So, after hearing Prowler, Run to the Hills, The Evil that Men do, Fear of the Dark, Wasted Years, Two Minutes to Midnight and loads more, I am now a really big fan of thes ...

Hi,
It's been a while since my last Blog....getting to think I'm the only one who does them....tho Gibbo says he wrote one the other day but lost all of the content due to problems on the site..bugger, he said there was some good stuff in it. Tales of hot food, chewy and windy bingo aren't the same if anyone else does it....go on Gibbo, have another go, but type it in notepad, save it and then copy and paste to the blog (top tip from your friendly IT storage Professional).
Well, I'll take you back to the 9th of Nov, where we played to a packed Wheatsheaf (max 10)...never mind tho, the fight just before the end of the 1st half kept us entertained. In the second half I made my vocal debut with D.O.A....anyone who knows this song, know's Mr Grohl embraces the roar, so I tried to do the same....finished it with my face looking like an over inflated beetroot...but it wasn't a bad first go by all accounts...need to get me breathing sorted out I reckon. So o ...

Hi,
Well, the wedding went really well and I'm now officially a married man....for the 2nd and last time. had a superb honeymoon and strangely wasn't looking forward to the gig on Saturday....though all that changed once I was there.
Got a few comments regarding my playing style...one guy said he thought it was very different...my reply being "i just hit the thing"!!
Anyhow, like nixon says, we were a bit concerned at the lack of punters, but it sharp filled up cos apparently the other do the regulars were at wasn't up to much (put politely). We absolutely murdered the opener....but improved from there, right up until the encores and we decided to do the Trooper by Iron Maiden and while I think we did a great job, the audience didn't think much of it.
So onto packing away which is the worst part!! I'd got all my gear in the car and was helping the others (Paul n Neil) load there cars.....when the lads poin ...
