Troopers, and dangling lights!!
mals blog By mal on 30 October 2007
Hi,

Well, the wedding went really well and I'm now officially a married man....for the 2nd and last time. had a superb honeymoon and strangely wasn't looking forward to the gig on Saturday....though all that changed once I was there.

Got a few comments regarding my playing style...one guy said he thought it was very different...my reply being "i just hit the thing"!!

Anyhow, like nixon says, we were a bit concerned at the lack of punters, but it sharp filled up cos apparently the other do the regulars were at wasn't up to much (put politely). We absolutely murdered the opener....but improved from there, right up until the encores and we decided to do the Trooper by Iron Maiden and while I think we did a great job, the audience didn't think much of it.

So onto packing away which is the worst part!! I'd got all my gear in the car and was helping the others (Paul n Neil) load there cars.....when the lads poin ...

Jack Russel at the back gate!!
Waynes Blog By Wayne Nixon on Monday, October 29, 2007

Afternoon all, just had a canny weekend, first off we had a gig on Saturday night at The Bebside inn in Blythe. When we turned up there was hardly a soul in the place, we then got told all the regulars were out on a do with the landlord somewhere, so we thought we were going to be playing to the bar staff and the pool table!! Anyway just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse we made a total bulls lug of our first song, after that we quickly sorted ourselves out and the place got canny busy, half time had the usual talking bollocks, from Edgey telling us about Whoppee Goldberg and a brown outline on a white pillow, to me and Paul seeing  60 year old Amy Winehouses’ growler (at one point I think it actually went to bite Paul’s hand).By the end of the night it felt as though I was standing on a mattress, people were jumping up and down that much!

Lads, As still not 100%
mals blog By mal on 09 October 2007
It's true what people say..."you know you're getting older the longer it takes you to get over a weekend on the beer"...or something along those lines. It's tuesday afternoon and I'm starting to feel somewhere near human. Crikey...there's more holes in my memory from Saturday night than there is in Paul's argument that he's a canny lad....don't believe him :-)

But from what the lads have said, everyone had a good night...great!! I on the other hand have ruined my shirt with Curry stains....that tumeric stuff doesn't come out!! Any tips from Sunlights best would be handy...gibbo??

Well, Paul's feeble excuse for not being able to practise has now delayed my vocal debut indefinitely...it needs another practise and if we can't get one in, it doesn't get played at a gig...shame on you Paul, gibbo will be upset!!

Onto that gay slur towards me da, what I said was said (from what I remember) with a great sense of pride that he'd come t ...

stag do bombshells !
Pauls Blog By Paul on 10/8/2007 6:39 PM
it was malcolm's stag do on saturday so we went through to durham and had a damn good go at drinking the city dry.we were supposed to be going to leeds for the day but mal's hired friends had all decided they had got a better offer from somewhere else (yorkshire pussy's) anyway thats why we ended up in durham,a good day was had by all and as the drink was flowing mal came out with a comment that is surely quote of the week, when i asked mal if his dad would be joining us for the merryment mal told me that, and i quote "im really pleased my dad is coming out tonight" shock horror who would have thought it mals burly, bearded, bald father a loin muncher! of course he isnt really that way inclined but we took the piss out of mal for a good half hour over that comment, which has to be quote of the week. anyway on band matters koncept are back on the road this week after a two week break for waynes jollies,by all accounts he's enjoyed looking at "them triangle houses" in egypt. anyway we are on at t ...

The big day draws near
mals blog By mal on 02 October 2007
It's only just over two weeks now 'til I get married....stag night out this weekend...nothing drastic just a few pints with some mates......some might say i haven't got any mates...well we'll find out on Saturday I guess!!

Next gig is at the Vane Arms on the 13th...they've been doing quite a bit of work to the place and it's looking good...apart from the reduction in the stage size, but we manage.

Practice next week where I shall once more embrace the roar, should have it ready for the Vane Arms if gibbo's got owt to do with it!!

Heard a un-encouraging report about an upcoming venue yesterday...can't name it or the person who told me but part of the story involved a bycyle and a fire exit and very little aim....that's all I'll say..so we'll see what happens with that one!!

Wayne's away on his Jollies at the moment in Egypt, two weeks of sunshine...very nice...apparently he was going to look round the "triangle hou ...

Stamp out BULLYING.....
Gibbo's Blog By gibbo on 9/24/2007 10:00 PM

How the hell can ONE e.v. speaker sound like the Newcastle Arena's in house rig? I don't know, but it did. Thats all the guy doing the Disco for the Leeholme gig had, due to the other being damaged....by....erm...someone....?? Sounded astonishing!

The Leeholme gig was tremendous, a great night for everyone there. It would be a good move for whoever concerned to organize another in the not too distant future.

Admittedly I wasn't looking forward to it due to a sore throat and dizzy spells I'd been getting all week before the gig....BUT....I was wrong to worry, as the vocals were on good form as was our performance as a whole. Wayne was throwing in guest BV's again and Paul came up front singing lead vox and playing one chord rhythm guitar on a Clash number...whilst I cunningly perched myself on his trex and sweat soiled drum stool to lay down the beat....I seld ...

Two cracking gigs - one croaking voice
mals blog By mal on 20 September 2007
Well, none of the others seem to want to put a blog entry in about how good the gig's were last weekend. We played a privately organised do at Leelholme, one fee on the door and then all you can drink for nowt....an we were all driving, bugger!!!...apart from Paul, who probably managed to get his 17 quid's worth and might have had it beaten out of him by one of his mates cos we didn't play learn to fly...whoops!! Anyhow, the gig was good, nice sized hall..sound wise I thought we had a good mix on and off stage...sweating like the preverbial by the end...no change there then. Finale was Paul up on vocals for white riot....and even playing one chord during the lead part....had nightmares about him snapping more than one string by digging the plec in too deep on the downward stroke (cunjure that one up in yer heed!!).

Onto Saturday night at Segga!! The Bat and Ball as it's fondly referred to by our young'n. Crackin night yet again, great feedback....several Encores...and sweat by the ...

Wax on, Wax off.
mals blog By mal on 10 September 2007
I can certainly say that I really enjoyed this weekends gigs...the Blacksmiths was a great gig despite Paul turning up late having gone through the Tyne Tunnel to get to Gosforth!! (I still think he's joking cos not even he's that stupid!! is he?). It was ages since we'd played there, in fact the last time I ended up in Hospital a day or two later.....aya's lads me Knee's hurtin!! Thankfully no such happenings this time. The gig was really good, we opened up with a new tune and it sounded great. So anyway onto this wax on wax off thing...well you'll have to ask Edgy for more info...I mean I've had my back waxed for charity and when I showed the lads they wen't into a catatonic state of shock....but Edgy has gone that one step further...needless to say...when he had 'them' done, it would've been a good impression of Buster Gonad...cos they'd have swollen up like balloons....but to drop his kegs in the middle of the pub just before chucking out time... I felt sick!!

Onto the Spennymoo ...

roundhouse masons?. . .
Gibbo's Blog By gibbo on 9/9/2007 11:43 AM
always a delight to play the blacksmiths arms in gosforth and friday night was no exception, all songs seemed to be well received and all feedback was superb. . . . I was chuffed with our new opener. . . Which if i recall. . .Has yet to added to our website song list. Speaking of which we all made an executive decision last night to briefly defect from our new song list and rapidly learn a certain fratellis track that we're being constantly badgered to play, we aim to please. Last nights gig was equally enjoyable in a surreal way. Anyone who's seen us knows how diverse our set is and i'm not sure many people knew what most of our songs were. Non the less, a cracking gig with three encores finishing with a request for the foo fighters classic 'everlong' can you believe? I still stop and wonder, no pun intended, how of get away with most of our set in clubs, maybe its an interesting change for the audience not to hear the usual songs played to death on the club circuit. Maybe its because we're 100% live, bungle ...

Heightened state of disschuffedness
mals blog By mal on 01 September 2007
Well gutted our gig at the Masons has been pulled...I was looking forward to that one. Haven't been told why so it'll be interesting to find out why it was cancelled!!!

On the plus side, I've got me tickets to go and see the Foo's in Manchester in November....can't wait!!

So, we'll just have to introduce that new track next week when we play at the Blacksmiths in Gosforth, always enjoy playing there.

Got a busy few months coming up for gigs, nuptual's (did I spell that right?) and of course prior to that the STAG do....should be a larrf, hopefully they don't tie me up somewhere naked, not sure the public need to be seeing my impersonation of chewbacca!!
